My interest in fashion and clothing began at the age of ten, when my mother taught me how to sew. In my early teens I discovered punk rock and new wave. Not able to find the type of clothing I wanted to wear in stores, I honed those sewing skills and started cutting apart my thrift shop finds into unique funky garments.
Shortly after college I moved to Los Angeles and discovered the world of costumes in film and television. I knew that was what I wanted to do. My first job in the film industry was as a production assistant on the film "Superman" directed my Tim Burton with Costume Designer Colleen Atwood. That film never came to fruition but my career did! After that job ended I worked at Western Costume and earned my way into the Costumer's Local 705. From that point on I worked on dozens of films and TV shows, honing my skills and becoming one of the most sought after costumers in the business. Now I am taking all of the Hollywood secrets and sharing them with the public.
Before you shop, organize your closet. Keep what works, get rid of what doesn't. Make everything in your closet wearable by making it part of an outfit. Once you do this you will know what you need to buy - if anything. You will shop smarter and feel better about your purchases knowing that you are buying based on need not impulse.
